本课程旨在培养学生在中文教育方面的智力、批判性和想象力，提高学生对中文与其他语言、中国文化与其他文化差异的意识和敏感度。课程建立在学生多样经验基础上，拓展其中文语言、文学和文化知识，发展学习和教学技能，助力职业发展。
